A philosophical thought

Social media ~ what's that all about? Well I've been into it for about a year now so some observations:

Twitter is the new on line non-dating escape for the middle classes~ I've flirted and developed twitter crushes, thought relationships were developing then not, been elated and depressed, all in a short space of time. And I have observed many others doing the same.

Boos are great for saying that bit more and pretending we are journalists on R4.

Out here we are safe, hidden from family and friends by pseudonyms and aliases, we can explore fantasies and desires we did not know we had.

My timeline has some amazingly great people in it, as well as those who are odd, weird, or just very different. I love the instant interactions and casual wit, the sarcasm and occasional put down. We can say things we'd never say at work and be free with our words.

I notice that many of us have some issues in our real lives and we use Twitter and other such escapes as a release for how we really feel. This is probably a great way of avoiding vast fees to counsellors or psychiatrists!

And is it a solution? Nothing is really a solution that fails to address the root cause of the pain and if you are in an unhappy relationship then flirting on-line or even taking it a bit further will only bring temporary relief. I've realised this now both from my own experiences and those of others.

I won't give up though, somewhere out there my Lady is waiting and one day we shall meet.

This is not really going anywhere but it's not intended to, just some thoughts on the first of May, the day when outdoor .......... is supposed to begin.
